I think I have some goods news! The U.S. Department of Education has launched a website to demonstrate to teachers and other educators positive teaching practices and how to implement them. The goal is to promote excellence in American education and improve student achievement.
As you know, The Kingsland Plan, presented by Don Kingsland in “Set Our Teachers FREE! A Plan to Save Public Education” has advocated teachers sharing positive techniques to improve both teaching and learning.
This new “Doing What Works” site is intended to be a national clearing house and resource for teachers across the country. Of course, it was designed to help achieve the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND goal of every student at grade level by 2014. It seems that something positive is finally going to come from NCLB.
Content will be in three areas:
Hopefully, Doing What Works will be the answer, because the Dept. of Education plans to develop similar resources for early childhood education, high school reform, literacy, school restructuring, cognitive learning, math, science and more.
This sharing of information about what works is a step in the right direction.
