Busy Day in Education News

Well, it looks like it may be a little less of a scorcher in our area today, but news on the education front is hopping!

First, it was startling to learn on CBS news this AM that a school has banned “touching”. (I think they said it was in Virginia. I was so shocked by the story that I can’t remember for certain.) This ban includes hugs, “high-fives” and handshakes. Apparently, the rationale is that gang members are using handshakes as part of their terrorism communication skills. Once again, this is a typical bandaid being placed on a gaping wound.

In another report, I was able to listen to Mr. Lou Dobbs give some grim statistics on graduation rates in some of the USA’s largest cities. The statistics are terrible - as low as 25% in some areas!! Yeeks!! He went on to share information about the deterioration that is being seen across the country.
I only disagreed with Mr. Dobb’s on one point:

He concluded the interview by saying that no one has developed a plan for straightening-out this mess. I immediately contacted him, to notify he and his staff about “Set Our Teachers FREE!” Hopefully, someone will take the time to review the book and see that it DOES have the answers for our schools. And the turn-around could be FAST, which is what the good ole’ USA needs so desperately.

Well, wish us luck! We know that this book is critically needed. It is simply a matter of getting the news out so that the average American has a chance to choose a better way for their kids and the future.

Have a great day & Stay COOL!
