Come an’ Get-em!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, summer is a slow time for educational news. Most of the information is about the political wranglings that go on behind the scenes and where the budget cuts will be placed. Now, before anyone gets into a tizzy, let me clarify that I don’t think throwing money at our education problems is the solution. What is needed is a complete revamping of the entire structure, from top to bottom. Redistribution of duties and personnel seems like an overwhelming task. But actually, it could be accomplished quite quickly and easily with the plan presented in “Set Our Teachers FREE! A Plan to Save Public Education” by Don Kingsland. Whenever anyone learns about the plan; about how simple it would be to implement and what a drastic change it could bring about, the response is always the same. “Why hasn’t this been done already? This makes sense!”

Well, I tried to convince the author (my good friend and husband, Don) that approaching parents and teachers online was the way to introduce the book. We have successfully marketed books in the past utilizing the standard press releases and typical book tour signings, but I was convinced that the internet was the way to go. I love the access we all have to new and valuable information on our desktops, laptops, whatever. What I wasn’t prepared for was the social networking “poisoners” online. Yes, the internet gives us an opportunity to share valuable information and insights, but it also provides a platform for every angry, and even vicious malcontent to spew bile.

I posted an article that linked to this site and the book, and though I got lots of thoughtful, informative responses, I also got blasted by some individuals. This happens everytime I submit an article to a social networking site. I spend a lot of time preparing articles to submit and a lot of time on all of those sites. I love the new information I’m finding and I enjoy the commaraderie of exchanging different views on different topics.

But, inevitably, I’ll view a story where the comments have degenerated into rude and vicious attacks on the author or other commentors. I have begun to view the profiles of the individuals who attack others and I found that there are some UNHAPPY people who are using the social networks to vent their spleen. Just checking on a couple of people who blasted me and my stories, I found that they have a track record of criticism and negativity, unless the story involves nude women, or something similar. Well, the plan in the book is too important to let a few naysayers stop it.

I will continue to share any information I can find about education and the state of USA schools, but I’m going back to trying to reach concerned Americans the traditional way as well. If you find this site, and you get your copy early, you will have a head start on what everyone is going to be talking about soon. Going the traditional route with interviews and press releases takes a lot more time and money, but the message will get out - and that is what’s important!

store display of school supplies

In the meantime, if you go to any discount store in your area, you’ll notice that the shelves are being repurposed to stock school supplies. All of the plastic pitchers, glasses and summer supplies are being shunted to the SALES aisle and reams of notebook paper, pens, pencils, binders, etc. are being stacked to the ceiling.

If you’re one of the smart people who have already read Don’s book, you’ll notice that there are school teachers in the aisles, quietly buying supplies and stockpiling for when school resumes. And, if you’ve read Don’s book, you’ll know why the teachers are there.

In another few weeks, the aisles will be loaded with parents and students, eagerly selecting new supplies for the new school year.

Some of the youngsters will be excited about school, and some won’t, but most parents are hoping that THIS YEAR will be a good year for their students. Alas, schools will still be in the same dire state that has made US education the laughingstock of the globe. But that is going to change! We are going full-speed ahead with promoting “Set Our Teachers FREE! A Plan to Save Public Education” and, by golly, we’re going to tell all of AMERICA about this book and the plan.

I will continue to submit pertinent articles and information to the social networking sites, because there are lots of people out there who care about the USA and our students. But now we are going to utilize every channel available to Straighten-Out Public Education NOW! Just remember, you heard it here first. You can get your copy on this site, or you can hear about it in the news.

Yes, it is important to get your students the needed supplies for a successful year of learning. Don’t you think getting them better schools makes just as much sense? Come an’ get-em!

Exasperated, but determined,
